I like personal physical challenges. I've got the 145lbs by the end of the year bet in the bag, and am looking for higher ivory towers to topple. The next contest has already begun. The first person out of a group of five people to have the best abs by April wins. The prize, is free drinks for an undecided amount of time. I'm not sure I can win this one, but I'm going to give it a real good try.
Six pack abs are one of those things you see only on really lean people, though not necessarily fit. It'll require me to get my body fat deep into the single digits. I'm in the low double digits right now. It'll require careful calorie intake. I had Ben & Jerry's Chocolate fudge brownie last night. It'll require extensive core exercises and daily cardio. I lifted yesterday but haven't done cardio in a few days. There are lots of things I need to fix in my daily routine. Still, for some reason, I think this is within my grasp.
While I'm striving for ripped abs, I've also started weight lifting again. It feels good to be lifting and being sore again. Since I hadn't lifted in several months however, the first couple of lifting sessions have been really painful. I've had full on DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) after each one. My chest and tris routine left me sore for over six days and on the first two days it was really painful just lifting my arms up to my head. After my core and leg workout, I nearly fell out of bed the next morning when my legs seemingly gave out. I'm waiting to see how I feel tomorrow morning as I did my chest and tris routine again yesterday.
I am worried though. I've sized up my competition and I know who I need to sabotage...
Sam: Has the muscle mass, but it's under a lot of creme.
Counter measure: A bacon of the month club subscription and a case of Gulden Drak.
Threat assessment: No threat.
Mike: Is dropping the adipose like Roy Williams drops footballs.
Counter measure: Set him up on blind dates or invite him out to eat at various restaurants.
Threat assessment: Minor threat.
Eliza: Is working out at the gym three times a week, has access to personal trainers, and is running when time permits.
Counter measure: Ben & Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk.
Threat assessment: Major threat. Will need to take immediate action.
Paul: Has all the facilities and motivation to win, but lacks the time.
Counter measure: Giving Payton sugary substances during the day and caffeine in the evening.
Threat assessment: A dark horse but has the potential to be a major threat.
