Last weekend was interesting, though I guess not everything went according to plan. I had thought that right about now, I'ld be trying to achieve my very first flight on a rc heli. Well, that or me ordering parts to fix the heli after it's very first crash...

Saturday was the ihobby expo. It didn't dissapoint. The usual suspects came out in force with their new wares. Traxxas had their new revo models that I absolutely lusted over. The model train displays were simply outrageous as usual too. The attention to detail these people pour into these is unreal. The largest displays were owned by several people, but to coordinate and to make sure that each section seamlessly blends into the next... That's just incredible.
But, my goal was to walk out of the show with an esky honey bee king 2, or a esky belt cp. After what seemed like an eternity, I finally found a honey bee king. But the guy wanted 160 for it. And for last years model too! Ridiculous. The search continued, and I then stumbled upon a belt cp. This time for a more palatable 150. But again for last years model... Regrettably I walked away empty handed.
Eliza and Mark suggested I start with a heli trainer simulator instead. But I knew my computer wouldn't be able to handle it. I was starting to have second thoughts on leaving the belt cp behind. This did bring up a valid point however. My pc was getting really old and was now keeping me back. That just won't do! So began my search for a new pc.
With craigslist as my market I began my search. I didn't want to spend a lot, but I knew I wanted something that could not only be a competent pc for the simulator, but also act as a decent HTPC. I managed to locate a hp p4d running xp media center. It had a tv tuner and other bells n whistles. Perfect! And I could throw in a more powerful cpu and video card if necessary. I was psyched.
Eliza and I headed to Lincoln Park to pick up my new for me pc on Sunday night. I fell into a typical craigslist exchange problem though. The lack of consistent communication. Let this be a lesson to all of you, Craigslist is nice, but you need to stay in sync with your seller or buyer at all times. The little things that you take for granted when being treated by a brick and morter or an online seller can become major stumbling blocks.
But to sum up, here is my Pinky thought process. I want a RC heli. I go to hobby show to buy RC heli. I don't find one I'm happy with. Eliza and Mark suggest an RC Heli flight simulator. My PC won't be able to handle it. Danny needs a new PC. Danny buys used PC. Danny no longer is obsessing in RC Heli's. For now?
It always comes back to the computers for me I guess.
